"Hurricanes used to be something that we rarely hear of in the tropics, however in the recent past hurricanes have been very common. Scientists project that hurricane-associated storm intensity and rainfall rates will increase as the climate continues to warm. Moreover, as the sea level continues to rise, the severity of storm surges will escalate, exacerbating flooding caused by heavy rainfall, leading to heightened damage."
